TEKNOSER CORUNDUM

Corundum Aggregate, Dry Shake Surface Hardener

Product Description

TEKNOSER CORUNDUM is cement based, polymer modified, abrasion resistant, powder surface hardener that is including special type cement, high quality corundum aggregate. TEKNOSER CORUNDUM provides resistance to wearing, impact, dusting, and abrasion for heavy loads on concrete surfaces. TEKNOSER CORUNDUM is designed to be applied as a dry shake over freshly floated surface concrete.

Uses

·         In areas subject to high abrasion and impact.

·         In mechanical workshops and service shops.

·         In indoors and outdoors.

·         In industrial plants such as automotive production and assembly plants.

·         In petrol and power stations, aircraft hangars, transport terminals, shipyards and loading docks.

·         Storage areas subject to heavy loads.

Features and Benefits

·         Perfect impact, wear and abrasion resistance

·         Cost effective, long lasting floor

·         Dust proof and slip resistant surfaces

·         Available in a wide range of colors

·         Easily applied on freshly floated surface concrete.

·         Higher impermeability compared to plain concrete

·         Resistant to water and freeze-thaw cycle.

·         Well graded corundum aggregates.

Preparation of Substrate

Concrete is floated after being poured and overall setting is obtained with the help of vibrating float application. Dependent on the conditions, remove the surface water or allow it to evaporate. When the base concrete is firm enough to make a footprint vibrating screed should be done.

Application Method

The dry shake must be spread once the concrete can be stepped on, without leaving a print deeper than 3 – 5 mm. Sprinkle TEKNOSER CORUNDUM onto the fresh concrete evenly in 2 stages. For the fist stage 2/3 of TEKNOSER CORUNDUM can be applied proportionally on the surface by hand. 1/3 of the remaining material is spread to the surface as a second stage.   Overall application rate is 4 – 6 kg/m2. Spread the material evenly over the surface and wet the material well with concrete. The spread quantity is leveled completely to concrete by vibrating screed. Careful trimming must take place along the edges where adjoining slabs are to be poured. When the surface is firm enough to walk on, finishing can be done with the help of a steel float (helicopter). This process is continued until the required surface quality is achieved. After the levelling and floating, concrete curing material should be used to protect the concrete surface. Curing compounds (TEKNOKUR 100, TEKNOKUR 200 or TEKNOKUR 300) enhances the strength of concrete and seals the necessary moisture for proper cement hydration. Open areas should be protected from aggressive whether conditions during the first 24 – 48 hours.

Watchpoints

·         Care must be taken to apply the product without creating ripples etc. in the concrete surface.

·         Variations in concrete characteristics such as water content and cement quality may lead to slight color variations.

·         Never add water to the surface where the dry shake has been applied.

·         Correct timing and toweling techniques are essential.

·         To prevent surface cracks some joints must be cut with an appropriate saw and a curing compound (TEKNOKUR 100, TEKNOKUR 200 or TEKNOKUR 300) should be used.

·         Avoid application on frozen areas, on areas under risk of freezing in 24 hours or on areas open to direct sunlight or wind.

·         Do not use concrete where some cement has been replaced by fly ash, as this makes the mix sticky and less workable.

·         At too low and too high relative humidity, efflorescence and bleeding can appear on the surface.

·         The slab must be of good quality concrete with a minimum water/cement ratio consistent with the production of a fully compacted slab.
